But execution stops at spiffs_mount() and I don't know, what to do

Unless you are compiling on a raspberry pi or something, 9 seconds of compilation is a long time.
Maybe you are simply running out of flash memory.

Can you give us a reference to spiffs? ( is it https://github.com/pellepl/spiffs ?)
