USB charger + 5v to 3.3v regulator (0.99$)

I got this "Logic Level Converter" from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171569733190 for the same price as the voltage regulator you found.
As a level converter it is utterly rubbish (just 470 ohm resistors between 5V and 3v3) but it has the same AMS1117 voltage regulator.
The resistors can always be used for misc. current protection (but not voltage)

They don't look incredibly safe but I've used them without problems.
