#13239 Why not just design an Arduino shield with the ESP module on it? Having the ESP hard-soldered to the bottom side of the board appears to be a very awkward design. Another possible design is a Leonardo-style Arduino with a socket for the ESP... similar to this board designed for XBee radios...

I have two of these boards and the Leonardo works well for these types of applications because it has two serial ports... one connected to the XBee (or ESP) module and the other one connected to USB.
