Hmmmm, that's odd, it's OK for me "out of the box" (I'm running OS X 10.10.2 now), and I know that IGRR is doing his main development on 10.10 too.

I remember from the early beta test an issue with esptool on OS X 10.7. What version OS X are you using?

Just a shot in the dark, but could it be caused by the Security settings re. Downloaded Programs, see my settings (in Dutch) below:
