#15635 I started off trying to connect with XTCOM tried ALL the baudrate numbers in the drop down, also went into the device manager and changed each one everytime i changed it on XTCOM.

I then tried Realterm i know its seeing it on my laptop and there is comunication but who ever set this up (factory end) set this with an unknown baudrate which is the challenge to find.

Ive then tried the coolterm as recomended via the above post, judging by that route I took the error i got suggests a baudrate clash so whats the chances of going through one and all of what ranges it could be to discover what it is and then to change to a more sensible 9600?

Its So frustrating because im not all that good with PCs as a rule but i know im on the right track but the EPS is the problem and i cant conect because its been set up funny.

Originally when i fired it up i was getting an SSID of AI-THINKER_A1B1D5 but it was half connecting to my iphone but wasnt showing the wifi symbol on the title bar. Now i get nothing.

Ive ordered another from a UK seller so i can try the same things ive done to prove to myself its the ESP and not me/laptop

Any advice given is gladly accepted as i say this is my weak spot but i know ive tried all options and doing the right things.

Thanks guys

Rick

#15669 Okay, it's an Esp-01. I never used one (I have 03 and 12), but the 01 is the original and most common design, so you'll find a lot of posts with detailed explanations and diagrams.

You might have erased the original firmware, and you'll need to flash a new one. The choice will depend upon what you want to do with your module. The easiest way I know for testing this process and make sure you've got the wiring right is with the NodeMCU flasher and firmware, if you have a Windows PC:

If you have a Mac, someone else will help you better than I would.

EDIT: A link or a picture of your serial to USB converter would also help, as well as a diagram of your wiring.
