#15735 Hehe, I can't even handwrite, so imagine my drawings.

Okay, your USB adapter is not the one you need. It generates voltage swings of -5V/+5V at least, instead of 0V/3.3V required by the Esp. So your module might be permanently bricked.

The USB converter you need is usually advertized as UART or TTL or serial (or incorrectly RS-232) and looks like this:

That's the model I use, and it's the cheapest I could find on eBay.
Notice the male headers, one being labeled 3.3V.

It can't provide enough power for an Esp module though, so you'll need a more powerful 3.3V supply. As a minimum, something like this:

I suggest you measure the output voltage, since I have one of those overshooting by several volts.

And in case you don't already have female to female Dupont leads, this is what they look like:

Again, I've never used an Esp-01, but when you receive your new one and the other items, if you have trouble making it work, I suggest you start a new topic mentioning "esp-01" in the title.

Cheers.

#16138 Just to recap my plan, I'm trying to connect the ESP to a Telescope hand controller so that I can use an app via the iPhone/ipad to move my GoTo mount around the nights sky.

After my earlier problems I'm pleased to say I've managed to communicate with XTCOM & CoolTerm,

I've uploaded the latest Firmware for it, I've set the ESP as an Access point and set the SSID, password etc.

I can see its connected to my iPhone and when I type AT+CWLIF

I can see that the iPhone is connected to the WIFI through CoolTerm but it doesn't show the WIFI symbol on the title bar.
when I got to iPhone>Settings>Wifi >NexStar+ (My SSID of the ESP - connected to 192.168.4.2)

when I go to to my SkyPortal (a Celestron / Sky Safari 4 - Astronomy App on iOS) it wont connect to my scope as the WIFI isn't showing as connected in the app/title bar.

what am I doing wrong in terms of wifi conectivity

The scope uses basic TX, RX, and ground serial so should in theory work

Any help would be really welcomed I'm so Close so solving this.

thanks Rick
