If a specific discussion topic is chosen there is the option to read several items of interest and mark the rest as read even though they weren't read.
Now for new posts no such option is available. New posts lacks the option to mark posts as read even though they weren't actually read.
Not all new posts are of interest.
Currently if they are not read they accumulate and make things unpleasant ....a great many boards allow the user to selectively read items of interest and mark others as read so as to not clutter a future inquiry.
