#14788 The item in Aliexpress has the title "HC-22 serial ESP8266, wifi module, replace the Bluetooth wireless".
What exactly does this mean? Did they replace wifi with bluetooth in it?

#15257 No, it means that it has the same form factor and pin assignment as the popular HC-06 bluetooth modules, and can therefore replace them in an existing device. (Software has to be adapted, though)

But as many manufacturers of remote controlled LED bulbs, wall outlets, toys, etc. use this particular bluetooth modules, it will be easy for them to switch to WiFi, without changing the PCB.

#18782 After a long wait on a slow boat my HC-22 module has arrived. The module looks to be well made, has lots of pins broken out and has an on-board 10K resistor between 3.3v and CH_PU. Unfortunately I cannot get it to respond in any way, I mapped out all the pins as outlined below but even with GPIO15 held low I am unable to get any response. I suspect it has no firmware loaded but so far I have been unable to flash one. Either I killed it probing with my multimeter, got a dud module or have got something connected incorrectly. If anyone else purchases one of these and is able to get it responding let us know.
