#27839 @h4rm0n1c, thanks for your reply! Your response isn't impolite at all :D, I appreciate you explaining the difference between a router and a switch. Is the switch you are talking about equivalent to an ethernet switch but for wifi? Also your advice against writing anything with switching capabilities is a valuable one due to limited resources.

@martinayotte, I'm having trouble finding DominioIO, do you have a link?

#27847 @martinayotte, I had not seen the Domino.io routers. Nice find!
A couple of the Domino.io devices used as repeaters in a star topology as an alternative to esp8266 nodes in the mesh topology is interesting. What do you think would be the least complicated and expensive way to extend WiFi range for esp8266 nodes in a residential environment?

#27848 I really don't know. In fact, I've just received my pledge this morning. I hope to get some time over the weekend just to try it, at least getting basic configs done.

But that can be a good question to ask to Squonk, since he worked with Domino team to get the project done.

(For those who don't know Squonk, he did a lot of reverse-engineering on OpenWRT, especially with TL-WR703 router. He was of the early member of ESP8266 last year. He then joined the DominioIO.)
