The note about the MB102 being powered via USB may be incorrect. It seems to depend on the version of the board. It can also work either way, as input or output. Apparently, the USB connector is connected in parallel to the barrel socket. So if you put 12V on the barrel socket, you get 12V on the USB plug. If you happen to plug anything into that USB plug while putting much more than 5V into the barrel socket, magic smoke will result.
(Aside: I have yet to find an inexpensive source for smallish wal-warts. Any pointers to something appropriate for the MB102 are welcome, probably best by PM as it really isn't appropriate for this thread.)

Nodemcu devkit 1.0 is not with the modules supported, which has different pin number.
So, how to adapt the info in the book? What are the parts that should be changed?
And, if I wanted to program it with lua IDE, should I change the firmware?
