#31876 well after finally getting my esp module to work im now going around in circles again tryingto find a sutable AT firmware to load.

given how popular these things are you would think thats easy right?

well seeing as everyone and their dog are scrambling to put their own firmwares out or altered variants it certainly doesnt help anyone trying to get on with these.

i have not got a clue how to use python or lua or any of the other language types that people quickly start spewing at you straight away thinking everybody knows these languages and how to use them.

i was hoping to put the esp basic ontheir but my 512k memory laden esp 03 wont even give me a hoot after flashing obviously that means that i need to look at one of the many now spiralling out of control variants of the AT firmwares to pair my module with one of my pic microcontrollers.

now trying to find a suitable current firmware and then to boot find an AT command set that actually doesnt either give me constant errors after sending a command or seem to be stuck in echo mode regardless is a nightmare.

i have tried V0.9.5 works but i cant find any AT command pdfs that will let me use more than a handfull of commands as i cant find many even using the V0.9.5.2 firmware that keeps sending me errors no matter what command set i come across and try.

their is now too much info floating around and its getting messy and impossible for new users to navigate and not feel like they need to go crazy.

until i can get the esp basic on a different or eventually this one where can i find an AT firmware WITH a correct AT command set??

i have donloaded and flashed this damn thing so many times and now have a file folder ridiculously full of all sorts of firmwares and such that just dont seem to correlate together

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!

so can someone point me in the direction of something "complete" with respect to an at firmware and a correct and matching document to do more than just check my version or reset or echo back that doesnt want to turn off.

#31877 well this is ridiculous, v.0.9.5 just constantly echoes back whatever regardless and i cant find any commands that work ATE0 will not stop the echo and v0.9.5.2 only functions with some at commands but as yet no darn datasheet or pdf can even bloody tell you which version its for, i can check its firmware and reset it via at commands but i cant even attempt to list any local ap's as that just comes up with error.

considering how many of these have been sold i find it absolutely hilarious that no one really can offer any help, maybe because everyone else is often confused by all the random garbage that has to be sifted through to even find something half usefull, the lack of organization for the different firmwares AND their appropriate full explanatory documentation for these is absolutely ridiculous!!

#31880 Howdy Tony,
One of the things I have been trying to do is collect knowledge and make it available as a free book ... have a look at the following forum thread and see if that addresses your questions. If it does not, then PLEASE post back and tell me about how information can be better organized:

See also the references section of this PDF which points to a lot of original source material which may also provide assistance.

#31885 hi kolban,

geez thats quite a book, just as well winter is coming, many months of snow time to pass by.

as for my ordeal trying to find things, i spent ridiculous amounts of time finding the different AT firmwares and tried them but the issue was that any updated documentation i found or at least supposed to be, never ended up working with most of the commands, i tried a recent v.0.9.5.2 and all it would do was echo back regardless, even if i flashed following instructions it would not allow certain commands which were obviously not new updated to suit the firmware and all sorts of other issues.

in the last hour i have finally managed to find yet another AT firmware that does seem to finally work with some AT commands i found in another pdf after again trawling for hours with google searches either for whole internet or even for this site and it seemed no matter what i downloaded the updated commands that should have worked ended up mostly not apart from a small handfull which nothing could be done with other than check device version ect.

the need for the better organisation as i mentioned comes from more the point of that if any newer firmwares ect are placed here on the site then it ideally should be accompanied with the most up to date and pertinent instruction set for that F/W maybe a nice all in one zip rather than it being scattered left right and centre as it seemed to be when i was trying to find correctly matched docs/f/w.

for anyone first coming here to make that first start with that device and having to find a newer F/W as i had to because mine came blank (??) it ends up just causing mass confusion and ultimately great stress trying to do or even find the right things needed to do something that shouldnt really have to take more than an hour at worst case never mind a good portion of two days just to get the right files needed.

but now after all this hoo haa i finally have one running an AT F/W and the other is now currently running the esp basic and i think i need several cold beers now.

your book seems very interesting and no doubt should be helpfull once im ready to start doing "things" and "stuff" with these lol

thank you,

tony
