Probably, I haven't removed the resistor..

- Wed Nov 04, 2015 7:19 am #33011 The resistor connect VCC directly to the ESP8266 3.3V input if I remember right (skipping your voltage converter), you might have fried your ESP if you applied higher voltage (or not if you're lucky :D )

Also check that you don't have any unwanted connection to GND, I've used such adapter board, and one of them must have melted under the ESP module or something else went wrong. Point is, I had some unwanted short-cut (or simply some short-cut!)
