I tried to create a basic ESP bot that I could drive from my phone (with success). I'm hoping to expand the project a lot but in the meantime I wrote a somewhat detailed guide on how I got everything done etc etc. The source code can be found here along with a link to the guide I wrote. https://github.com/arduic/ESP8266
As a note I wrote everything in flat C using the SDK espressif provides so if you want a LUA guide or some other such language this is not the place.
