ESP8266 Community Forum

I'm playing with the ESP for a months and what I noticed is a well-known fact, that the Arduino IDE is not that good for editing a bit more complex code - no code folds, no auto-complete... etc.
I know that some people managed to work with eclipse for the AVR programming replacing the Arduino IDE. As I'm not aware of the current state of the development, is there any such possiblity for programming ESP with the arduino toolkit but editing the code from a more advanced editor?

- Tue Dec 15, 2015 10:18 am #36482 Yes, there is a plugin to develop Arduino sketches under Eclipse, that can be configured to work with ESP modules.

- Tue Dec 15, 2015 12:36 pm #36497 Maybe helpful for others: for the Arduino IDE 1.6.5 code folding can be enabled in the preferences dialog box.
