OK
is this the right version now ?
i am going to try going farther and see what happens...

So they want the speed to be different.
Try this: AT+UART_DEF?
Hopefully it'll tell you the default for the UART -- 115200?
Try this: AT+UART_CUR?

If they work, then you should be able to change them like this:
AT+UART_DEF=38400,8,1,0,0

If they don't work, then try the AT+CIOBAUD? command?
If that returns something, then try AT+CIOBAUD=38400

Once that works and you can connect to the esp8266 at 38400, then plug the esp8266 into the clock and turn the clock. There must be a menu on the lock because the instructions say:
" To start this process, select "Init" for the "Wifi" menu item. "

i am on this page and things are matching up now..

i am connecting to the wifi via my computer and i am on the set up section
setting up the SSID etc.
i think it is connected now.. but i do not know how often the clock updates... i deliberately set the time wrong just to see if it updates any time soon.. i'll let it run over night and see what happens tomorrow morning..

only thing i do not know is who often does it query the time ?
and when ?
