#3844 As it was suggested earlier, I flashed another firmware and it started to respond to my AT commands properly. I didn't realize there was another "kind" of firmware too. I got my module off eBay, and it was advertised as "this something" that supports AT commands.

Anyway, I am just starting out on the ESP8266, but will most likely be back with more questions, and in time will also try to contribute with answers.
