My small typo is in fact a typo from OP, and I'm guilty of having done copy/paste ;-)

Sketch uses 236,961 bytes (54%) of program storage space. Maximum is 434,160 bytes.

About this, maybe it is simply that previously, you didn't use SPIFFS at all, and in the new IDE is was enabled by default ?
