Format flash is still allowing settings to be retained.

All of my information is being retained the format should first open and clear all settings from each file before writing stuff the file system is somehow retaining information even after performing a format flash.

Rather strange but I will just have to revert to the old method.

flash 512k
flash 4mb

Then viola everything is clear sometimes I may have to repeat the steps but most often this seems to fix the issue.

Still it is a bug formatting with the flasher should remove all data retained.

It is still retaining settings after doing so.

Somehow even flashing LUA to the device and formatting the device in LUA still is not doing the trick.

There is definately something buggy here how can the settings still be retained for the device after flashing other flashes to it there has to be a way to completely clear everything from my device so far all attempts have failed!

Funny thing if I flash the 2MB version or the 512k versions the data is not retained.

But as soon as I flash back the 4MB version all of my data flashes back with it.

Does it somehow modify the bin file that is on my PC with previous settings I don't get how the information is being retained after all of this flashing but it is very very annoying. To me this type of thing could lead to nefarious code being retained and run on your nodemcu without your knowledge.

Not exactly working like it once did I am using a lolin v3 only difference is the USB power pin mapped out on one of the reserved legs not bad for my needs it is actually helpful.

esp12e is the hardware 4mb flash.

It has been relatively tough to do anything as my wifi keeps dropping my connection every time I connect and try and access the device the device resets when I do connect and manage to see something it asks for my password I enter it and then it resets.

I cannot no matter what I do seem to get rid of the settings I've tried many many different ways and tools to flash my nodemcu and so far nothing has worked to get rid of these settings been at it for hours. Far too many hours there needs to be a way to clear all settings via a flashing of some sort a file to over write the files that hold all of this information should be loaded into flash somehow and ran instantly consider making a basic firmware that you can upload and then wait for it to delete all of the files somehow or something this is downright driving me bonkers I figured out the wifi issue now there is this leaving me stuck with zero solutions.

Follow the instructions it gives.

Download Termite for windows: http://www.compuphase.com/software/termite-3.2.exe

Install termite and be sure it is closed.

Download the latest Basic Flasher from http://www.esp8266basic.com

Hit the format flash button then sync like normal press and continue to hold the flash button while holding push the reset button keep holding the flash button until you see a lot of blinking then let it go.

Once flashed hit ok on all of the prompts.

Open up termite select the com that you are on and the correct baud rate.

After 30 seconds passes you hit the reset button on your nodemcu then hit the clear button on termite.

Wait for a response once you see a response in termite you can close termite.

Bring Esp Basic flasher back up and hit the flash firmware.

Once open do the sync again let it flash the firmware.

Once firmware is done flashing press the reset button and wait for about 30 seconds.

Viola everything is clear!

Connect to your ESP wifi connection and visit 192.168.4.1 and get back to business.

NOTE: If you change your wifi settings it is critical to not only reset your ESP but also it helps to reset your router or wifi device depending on if you are connecting station or AP mode the reason being is that your router or your wifi card will keep the setting lingering so it is a must that you do the reset to your router or your wifi depending on how you connect!!!

Never leave blank data in the station mode box you are better off using incorrect data for the SSID and Pass then no data at all keep this in mind.
