Hi, if I had to guess & it is only a guess (the PDF data sheet was 1000+ pages) , I would think its to do with pull up resistors on the outputs. Try 10K pull up on Tx & Rx see how you go.

Yellow trace is the TX on the 5V side of the level shifter.
Blue is the reply from the SH7055.

The blue signal looks strange, it is like it is shorted by some other HIGH signal, preventing it to deliver at true LOW state during the first 75% of the transmission.
Check the wiring again !
Try to measure it again while disconnected to figure out which side is doing that kind of short.
