#41809 This page http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/MQGasSensors seems to suggest the MQ303A does smoke along with Alcohol.

But everywhere else I look, it says it only does Alcohol. Would it be suitable as a smoke detector? I want to build a battery powered smoke alarm pre-alarm so that we get a softer warning before the actual smoke alarm pierces our ears.

I thought about the MQ303A because the heater is much lower voltage and thus would use up the battery slower. Or maybe there are better suited sensors? AFAIK, the sensors in actual smoke alarms aren't the same type and don't have a heater.
