ESP8266 Community Forum

I am goign to us 8266-01 frist time, Can some one help me about
1- I want to use ESP8266 stand alone having my application.
2-what kind of development platform is required.
3- I want to use C language, which compiler is best one?

From what I am aware of the options you have to code your esp8266 are -

1) Arduino IDE
2) NodeMCU
3) SDK by expressif - the original manufacturers of the chip.
4) MicroPython

I understand that you requirement dictates you to use the SDK provided by the Expressif people (http://bbs.espressif.com/). I have not worked on it, but my fellow developer friends said that the SDK documentation has matured over the last year. So I am guessing if you give it a shot it could be your way to go.
