#42949 I did couple of tests with WiFiWebServer.ino sketch available under File> Examples > ESP8266WiFi .

Testing was done on Windows 7 64 bit PC using “Windows ZIP file for non admin install” version of Arduino IDE 1.6.7 and 1.6.8 together with ESP8266 platform package 2.1.0 (the latest stable release).

Compilation times were as follows:
• IDE 1.6.7 – 25s
• IDE 1.6.8 – 24s

In my case it looks like latest Arduino IDE 1.6.8 runs slightly faster than previous version 1.6.7.

#42955 I am using the 1.6.8 or 1.6.7 .zip windows 32-bit package in "portable" configuration with 2.1.0 esp board manager on windows XP sp3. As soon as I start the ide, one cpu core is completely hogged by a "services.exe" process.

And no, I'm not going to buy W7 for this hobby box, nor new hardware. If arduino were a serious development tool I'd use professionally, maybe ...
