It has onboard ESP-202 AND a switchable socket for an ESP-01.
Another bonus is onboard USB UART, with USB cable supplied.
It also has onboard regulator and RGB led, and comes with an unsoldered battery box.

- Thu Mar 31, 2016 3:55 pm #44598 I got impatient and dived in... and I have to say that this new Serial Dev Kit module is very good!

It's an ESP-202 dev module with GPIO leds and GPIO-00 flashing link similar to the original Ser Dev Kit module, but this new one has an on/off switch and includes a USB CH340 UART already on board.

TX and RX are broken out to pins as you would expect, which means that the module could be used just as a general purpose USB UART if wished.

A very worthwhile bonus is the fact that it also has an 8pin dil socket, and by changing over a couple of links and switches the onboard ESP-202 is bypassed, and ESP-01 modules can be plugged in and flashed if wished.

The supplied 3AA battery box is not essential for dev work because the module can conveniently be powered from the onboard USB.

The onboard 4Mb ESP-202 flashed first time, as did an ESP-01 plugged into the socket.

- Thu Mar 31, 2016 5:35 pm #44604 All I could find was 1 picture of the module with chinese labels, but just enough English letters to show the essentials likeTX, RX, and the ESP-202 v ESP-01 settings.
So took a deep breath, plugged in the USB cable, removed the GPIO-00 link once it had booted into flash mode... then flashed it without any problem.
Switched it off and on again, then successfully connected up to the newly created ESP-202 AP.

Powered off, changed the switches and links to ESP-01 socket, bunged in an ESP-01, then similarly flashed that with no problems.

It's blooming marvellous!


I've done a pic with everything labelled that I know, but I didn't know how to include it in the post - I couldn't copy and paste it, the post seems to only want a http url for the pic, but I don't have it publicly online.
If someone can tell me how to post the jpg pic, I'll put it up.
