- Wed May 04, 2016 10:58 am #46878 I like the diode idea much better than the resistor, too much room for error in a final product with resistor.

I am not sure if it was in sleep mode, all I know it was impossible for an I/O or transistor to pull GPIO16 connected to RESET low when I installed a new module ESP12E from AI thinker, unless GPIO16 was disconnected.... so for safety I will add a diode!

GPIO16 simply becomes the output of the deepSleep timer, and as explain above, we need a resistor or diode simply because this output is not opendrain.
