#30909 It turns out the moral of the story applies to me as well. I took a close look at the USB-UART adapter I'm using and found that the RXD connector pin had not been soldered to the board. Once I repaired it, I had no problems communicating between the ESP-12 and any of my computers.

#48443 Hi everyone,

I just created a user to add:
sometimes simply powering the ESP8266 board before the serial adapter (that is used for programming in arduino environment) will get you rid of this error. My knowledge of ESP is pretty weak, but saw this happen to friends two times already, and thought I will give everyone a hint. Hope it helps.
There were actually three errors in the arduino console, but I can't remember the other ones.

I have to thank you a lot! Thanks to everyone! Your comment is one of the clearest I could find about the correct configuration.
Thanks again! =)
