Your 16x2 LCD isn't compatible with the OLED Michael mentioned.
You will have to drive the I2C commands manually.

If you figure out how to interface the LCD as well please share all of your work on this.

We have a lack of information on GPIO expansion would be nice to see.

Yes of course, I have to hook up some leds on the lcd piggy back expansion just to be sure that from a hardware
point of view everything work fine, after I will try some old code that I made for 8051 microcontroller and as soon
post everything up.
