I haven't looked at the DS121820 data sheet to see if a conflict is possible, but on D15 I use it as a simple output only. Most often driving a status led or at most a relay.

Just because "it worked before" doesn't mean much to me. I work with professional programmers and one had (recently discovered) configured a serial RX pin to be an output. In conflict with the buffer driver connected to RX. It had been working that way for months. Product out in the field. Until one day it broke. (same code on a new device) I found the problem. (the hardware guy) Told him what he was likely doing wrong. He eventually confirmed it. Then had to raise an issue to correct the code in the previous products he originally wrote that piece of code for.
