I enjoy listening to a master who can teach me better. I am certainly no master myself, but I am willing to spend time trying to help others if I think it is appreciated and my time not being wasted. But I resent being forced into wasting time fending of unnecessary timewasters.
I imagine most people feel the same, including yourself, right?
So even though I haven't been actively progressing anything since the advent of V3 I still follow everything with interest, and if I see something that I know the answer to I will chime in and offer it. But if I don't have anything useful or constructive to add, then there is no point me intruding so I will just stay quiet.
That's where we differ, because you seem to want to say something even when you have nothing useful or constructive to bring to their party. As a consequence, you take away the relevent focus of their topic - but without anything useful to progress it - thus often causing their thread to shrivel up and end forever on your final irrelevent comments. The more topics you end like this, the more the forum topics turn into the Forlotto Show, with your name plastered everywhere... but it's not brought about by copious relevent help from you, it's due to copious irrelevent intrusion causing dead-ended threads.
Your irrelevent unwelcome chiming in on my help for Joe was pointless unhelpful time-wasting for many reasons...
1. One of the major benefits of the EasyNet udp network framework I developed, and Joe chose to use, was the great advantage of using a common configuration for all nodes which uses intuitive names instead of obscure cumbersome IP addresses. He clearly recognised the value of that, hence his interest.
You felt the need to rush headlong in without even knowing what we were talking about, and consequently your second 'justification' response tells him to send msgs to this and that using IP addresses. Clearly you were oblivious of his needs and wishes, and wasting his and my time with your irrelevent IP-based suggestions, so equally clearly, everyone would have been better off without that irrelevent intrusion.
2. You also advised him to use MsgBranch instead of udp - even though MsgBranch is browser sensitive (like much of ESP_Basic) and does not work correctly on all browsers... unlike udp, which is not browser related, and does work correctly on all browsers.
So this resulted in another irrellevent and potentially damaging negative intrusion.
3. And there were other opinionated but potentially damaging suggestions, like your advice to use V3 cos it is now rock-solid and bug free... which it isn't.
Perhaps now you can understand why I resent such unwelcome irrelevent time-wasting intrusions, they are certainly not a help, only a hindrence. What you do in others peoples threads is no concern of mine, but what disruption you cause in my threads is very much my concern, and something I wish you to stop - but previous comments asking you to stop have been ignored, so it has come to this.
You are clearly an intelligent and knowledgable person, with much to offer people - so I am trying to be kind and constructive when I say "Think twice before you barge in on someone elses thread, and when you do, give cause for them to welcome relevent advice that helps them towards their goal (not yours), and if in any doubt that your comments will be helpful then hold your tongue and keep out of it, because then no one has anything to lose". I am saying these things with the best of intentions, so I hope they will be accepted as being potentially useful in the manner that they are intended,
So I hope we can move on, and I would welcome and appreciate your input regarding an automatic program rollout concept I've been thinking about... http://www.esp8266.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=11152
