In what ways is NonOS SDK better than RTOS SDK? What is bad about RTOS SDK?

During the past 2 years, there were about 3 RTOS releases, while during the same times NonOS had about 15 releases.

I guess NonOS was chosen because of availability and not because of its technical merit. Given a choice today if Arduino were to start new, would RTOS be a better choice?

If you really mean "today", I doubt, since current version of RTOS still not well supported.
But, as I said, in the future, a revamp version which get merged with ESP32 version, than Yes.
Me-No-Dev and IGrr are already working on ESP32 version.
