It would be cumbersome, and I know virtually nothing about web page construction apart from it seems unneccessarily complex most of the time, but I'm wondering if one way round creating complicated pages with limited ram would be to build the fixed part of the page in a file hosted elsewhere, then write the dynamic bits from the esp. (similar to displaying an image on a button). CSS etc.. I assume that the esp writes code which causes the browser to pull the image file direct from source, rather than the esp retrieving the image then including it in the stream it sends to the browser. Just an uninformed thought.
