#7659 OK Thanks,
the blue led went away but esp8266 unable to connect to terminal with upgrade. Thanks for your effort; will try again and see what happens. At the mean time, just ordered another esp8266. I am pretty sure it is hardware related though in another discussion some swear it is a power supply issue. It must have been tough re-soldering the element you mention (at least for me) since they are microscopic...
Thanks for your time.

#8017 I think my RX line is damaged since I had connected it directly to Arduino which is 5 volts. Although some say this could be tollerated for a while I was not so lucky. SO please avoid connecting esp8266 directly to arduino RX line if you want to avoid a headache. This is the only mistake that I had done so far which caused damage...unless I had a faulty one (although it worked for a little while at the beginning).

On another note I read in some post about whether there is a backdoor left by manufacturers for spying through the esp8266...I am not a consiracy theorist, however my computer is completely controlled after certain esp8266 upgrades. The only way to stop this is to unplug the module...I am in a virtual machine so not too worried.
