In general, a far AP is 10 to 15 dB (assuming the number returned in the survey string is really dB) better with the ESP-01s.

Maybe a too obvious control question but keep in mind that the dB-figures are negative, meaning that a survey string reading of 50 is a stronger signal than a reading of 60.

- Thu Feb 05, 2015 1:04 pm #9076 I have now repaired all 6 modules by replacing the crystal. One of them was even turned upside down (soldered at the metallic shield) The pick and place machine really messed up

- Fri Feb 13, 2015 9:07 am #9646 Cendev ---- Thanks again for the help in my tread with the esp-07 I just wanted to come over here and post that the following worked with the version that i purchased from Amazon sold by Diymall.

GPIO15 + GND -> GND
CH_PD + 3.3v -> 3.3v
Tx -> Rx
Rx -> Tx

the terminal then showed that i was running version: 0.9.2.4
I was also able to send a test AT command to see if the module would respond and it did!
