Have you tried a different baud? Mine boots into 9600. Some do at 115200.

This is what I use to flash NodeMCU: esp8266_flasher.exe

If the firmware is in two (or more) parts, I use esptool.py

#10034 Thanks for the reply. It is transmitting at 74880 on it's own due to the fatal exception (see other posts above). I am not setting it to that baud.

If anyone has any experience fixing this issue, I'd greatly appreciate the help. I have two ESP-01's that are behaving this way that I would prefer not to throw in the trash if they can be recovered.

I'm wondering if you're flashing corrupted files?
Mind trying flashing this file? nodemcu_512k_20141212.bin
