Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still getting the following Fatal Exception error at 74880 baud.

Have you tried a different baud? Mine boots into 9600. Some do at 115200.

This is what I use to flash NodeMCU: esp8266_flasher.exe

If the firmware is in two (or more) parts, I use esptool.py

If anyone has any experience fixing this issue, I'd greatly appreciate the help. I have two ESP-01's that are behaving this way that I would prefer not to throw in the trash if they can be recovered.

I'm wondering if you're flashing corrupted files?
Mind trying flashing this file? nodemcu_512k_20141212.bin

- Wed Feb 18, 2015 8:58 pm #10132 Good idea. Unfortunately I still have the same problem. I have also redownloaded and then reflashed again the above mentioned firmware bins with the same results.
